Retractable Screens & Enclosures.
Walls That Disappear.
Ace of Decks is an authorized Fenetex installer serving Chicago’s western suburbs. We install motorized retractable screens and weather enclosures for homes, plus engineered patio enclosure systems for restaurants and hospitality. Screens are what turn covered space into a true room, then vanish when the weather is perfect.

What are motorized retractable screens?
Motorized retractable screens are engineered fabric or clear-vinyl panels that descend from a housing at the touch of a button, closing off the open sides of a porch, pergola or patio structure, then retract completely out of sight when you don’t need them. We install Fenetex systems exclusively: motorized, track-guided, and built to hold under real wind, not just keep mosquitoes out. Insect mesh, solar shading, and clear vinyl weather panels can run in the same structure.
Retractable Screen Walls
Motorized Fenetex screens in insect mesh or solar fabric, with full-height openings, track-guided edges and housings recessed into the structure when designed in from the start.
Clear Vinyl Enclosures
Clear vinyl weather panels that seal a covered space against wind, rain and shoulder-season cold. A three-season room that converts back to open air in seconds.
Screen + Vinyl Combined
Dual-track systems run insect screen and clear vinyl in the same opening: mesh for July evenings, vinyl for October nights, nothing visible in June.

Patio enclosures for restaurants & hospitality
Outdoor seating is revenue, and in Chicagoland unprotected outdoor seating is seasonal revenue. We design and install engineered retractable enclosure systems that extend patio season for restaurants, beer gardens, and hospitality venues across the western suburbs and greater Chicago area.
Built for commercial specification

What do retractable screens and enclosures cost?
Screen systems are priced per project based on the number and size of openings, fabric selections and motor configuration, finalized from a completed design.
Residential Screen Systems
Motorized Fenetex screen walls across one or more openings of an existing covered structure.
Integrated Walls + Ceiling Systems
Screens or vinyl enclosures designed into a new louvered pergola or covered structure from day one.
Commercial Enclosure Systems
Multi-opening restaurant and hospitality enclosures, engineered and specified per RFQ.
Design & planning retainer: $3,000, with $1,500 applied toward your build when you proceed. All design concepts, 3D renderings, layouts, and specifications remain the exclusive property of Ace of Decks until a construction agreement is signed.
Fewer openings, better specified.
Screens are priced per opening, which makes them easy to inflate. Quote all four sides of a structure and the number roughly doubles, whether or not the fourth side is a wall nobody sits against.
We would rather specify two or three openings properly, with the right fabric on each and housings recessed into the structure, than wrap an elevation for the sake of the total. If a side genuinely needs enclosing we will tell you, and if it does not we will say that too.
The recommendation comes out of the design, not out of the invoice. That is also why we quote from a completed 3D model rather than a walk-around, because the openings that matter are obvious on screen and easy to guess wrong on site.
Choosing the mesh, opening by opening.
Most projects do not want the same fabric on every side, and the decision is made per opening rather than per house. Orientation and sightlines decide it, not a catalogue page.
- Insect mesh where the view matters. Full visibility, full airflow, nothing between you and the yard. The default on the side you actually look at.
- Solar fabric on a west-facing exposure. It cuts heat and glare through the late afternoon while keeping the view, which insect mesh does not do.
- Clear vinyl where you want the season extended. It blocks wind and holds heat from an overhead or portable heater well into fall and back through early spring.
- Dual track where one opening has to do both. Insect mesh for July evenings, vinyl for October, nothing visible in June.
- Solid structure at the header and both sides. Every opening needs something real to mount to. That is a design-phase decision, and it is the single most common reason a retrofit costs more than it should.
We do not quote screens on all four sides by default. On most projects two or three openings carry the whole benefit, and spending the difference on better fabric where it matters beats covering an elevation nobody sits on.
Where we build
We install screens and enclosures across Chicago’s western suburbs, including Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Naperville, Burr Ridge, Barrington, St. Charles, Geneva, Wheaton and Downers Grove, with commercial enclosure work throughout greater Chicagoland. Home base: Aurora, Illinois.
Screen & enclosure questions, answered directly
How much do motorized retractable screens cost?
Most residential Fenetex screen projects at Ace of Decks range from $15,000 to $60,000 depending on the number of openings, their size, fabric type, and motor configuration. Systems designed into a new pergola or covered structure are priced as part of the integrated project. Commercial enclosures are scoped and quoted per RFQ.
Why Fenetex instead of other screen brands?
Track-guided edge retention and wind performance. Fenetex screens lock into side tracks so the fabric holds under real wind instead of blowing out of its channels, which is the most common failure of lighter-duty systems. As an authorized Fenetex installer, we design, install, and service the systems ourselves rather than subbing them out.
Are the screens manual or motorized?
Motorized only. Every system we install runs on motor control by wall switch, remote or automation. At the sizes and wind ratings we work with, motorized operation is what keeps the system reliable and the experience effortless.
Can screens make a patio usable in cold months?
Clear vinyl weather panels meaningfully extend the season, blocking wind and holding heat from overhead or portable heaters well into fall and early spring. It’s a three-season room, not a conditioned sunroom: for true four-season use, we design the enclosure alongside heating.
Do you do commercial restaurant patio enclosures?
Yes. We build engineered retractable enclosure systems for restaurants, beer gardens and hospitality venues, with NFPA 701 fire-rated materials, wind-rated engineering to 50 MPH, stamped Illinois structural calculations, and Somfy commercial motor systems. We work directly with owners and general contractors, and we’re set up to respond to formal RFQs.
Can screens be added to an existing porch or pergola?
Usually yes. Existing covered structures can typically accept surface-mounted tracks and housings. The cleanest installs, though, are designed in from the start, with recessed tracks and hidden housings. If you’re planning a new covered structure, design the screens at the same time.
