The short version
We collect the details you type into our contact form so we can reply to you about your project, and we use Google Analytics to see which pages people read. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with other contractors, and we do not buy or sell leads.
What we collect, and why
There are only two ways this site collects anything.
- The contact form. Your name, email address, phone number, the town you are building in, the type of project, a budget range, a rough timeline, and whatever you write in the message field. We ask for these because we cannot answer a question about a deck without knowing where it is and roughly what you have in mind.
- Analytics. Which pages you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you used, and which site or search sent you here. This is aggregate. It tells us that a page is or is not useful. It does not tell us who you are.
- Session recording. We run Microsoft Clarity, which records mouse movement, scrolling and clicks on a page and plays them back to us as an anonymous recording. It exists so we can see where a page confuses people. Clarity is set to mask text typed into form fields. There is more detail on our cookie policy, including how to opt out of it everywhere.
We do not ask for and have no use for your date of birth, your social security number, your bank details, or anything similar. Nobody needs that to price a pergola.
Where your enquiry goes
When you submit the contact form it goes directly into JobTread, the project management system we run the business on. It does not pass through a lead-selling service, a call centre, or a third-party marketing platform on the way.
Inside JobTread it is visible to Kevin and to the small number of people who work on scheduling and estimating. It stays there as part of the record of your project, or, if the project never happens, as a record of the conversation.
Who else is involved
A handful of companies process data on our behalf simply because we use their software. Each has its own privacy policy, which governs what they do with it.
- JobTread holds enquiries, estimates and project records.
- Google provides Analytics, Search Console and Tag Manager, which tell us how the site performs. Tag Manager is the container that loads our measurement tools.
- Microsoft provides Clarity, the session recording and heatmap tool described above.
- WP Engine hosts the site and keeps server logs, including IP addresses, for security.
- Google Workspace carries our email.
- Acorn Finance, if and only if you choose to apply for financing. That application happens on their system, not ours. We never see your credit details.
We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with other contractors or trade associations.
Cookies
This site sets measurement cookies for Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, loaded through Google Tag Manager. They let us count visits, see which pages are read, and see where a page loses people. We also run Google Ads, whose tags load through the same Tag Manager container, so part of your visit can be used to measure whether an ad worked.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will work normally without them. There is more detail on our cookie policy.
How long we keep things
- Enquiries that became projects are kept for as long as we may need them, which includes the warranty period and any period during which a dispute could arise.
- Enquiries that did not become projects are kept for around three years, because homeowners often come back to a project they postponed.
- Analytics is retained on Google’s schedule, currently fourteen months.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email outdoorliving@aceofdecksllc.com and we will deal with it within thirty days.
Deletion has one limit worth stating plainly: where records relate to work we actually performed, we may need to keep them for warranty, insurance, tax or legal reasons. We will tell you if that applies rather than quietly keeping them.
If you are a resident of a state with its own privacy statute, those rights apply to you and this is how you exercise them.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under thirteen.
Changes
If we start using something that changes what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top. We are not going to email you about a wording change, but anything material will be stated clearly here.
