Curved custom deck by Ace of Decks

Curved & Custom Decks

Custom deck shapes built with
architectural intention.

Curved and custom decks are designed for homeowners who want the deck to feel integrated into the home, landscape, pool area, patio, and overall outdoor living environment — not just a rectangular platform added to the backyard.

Why Custom Shapes Matter

Not every backyard calls for
a straight rectangle.

Curved deck layouts, angled transitions, custom picture framing, and unique stair placements can make a deck feel much more connected to the home and yard.

The goal is not to add complexity just for looks — it's to improve flow, soften edges, create better usable zones, and make the outdoor space feel intentionally designed.

Custom Deck Possibilities

Designed around the home,
not forced onto it.

Custom deck shapes allow the finished space to work better with doors, stairs, landscaping, pools, patios, pergolas, and furniture zones.

01

Curved Deck Edges

Curved edges soften the layout and create a more architectural look than a standard rectangular deck.

02

Angled Transitions

Angled corners, landings, and steps help the deck transition more naturally into the backyard.

03

Custom Picture Framing

Contrasting borders and picture-frame details add a cleaner, more premium finish to the deck surface.

04

Integrated Stairs

Stairs can be designed as a feature instead of an afterthought, improving flow and overall appearance.

05

Pool + Patio Integration

Custom layouts can wrap around pools, connect to Techo-Bloc patios, and create better movement across the backyard.

06

Feature Zones

Grill areas, dining areas, lounge zones, fire features, and louvered pergolas can each be planned into the layout.

Finish Details

The details are what make it
feel custom.

Curved and custom deck projects rely heavily on finish details: board layout, picture framing, railing layout, lighting, stair placement, and how the deck connects to the rest of the outdoor space.

These details are planned early so the final result feels clean, intentional, and premium.

Common Questions

Answers before you
start designing.

Are curved decks more expensive?

Yes, curved and custom layouts typically cost more because they require more planning, layout work, labor, and detailed finish work. The result can feel significantly more custom and architectural than a standard deck.

Can composite or PVC decking be curved?

Certain decking materials and details can be used to create curved or softened layouts. The exact approach depends on product type, radius, framing method, and finish expectations — something we walk through during the design process.

Can we add custom borders or inlays?

Yes. Picture framing, custom borders, inlays, accent colors, and pattern changes are common ways to make the deck surface feel more finished and intentional.

Do custom decks require a design process?

For anything beyond a basic deck, 3D design planning is strongly recommended. It clarifies layout, materials, stairs, railings, budget, and construction details before work begins — and $1,500 of the design fee is applied toward your build.

How does the process work?

Start with a free discovery call. From there, our outdoor living specialist visits your property for an in-person consultation ($150). If you'd like to move forward, 3D Design & Planning is $3,000 — with $1,500 applied toward your build.
